Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

This fragment preserves on the obverse a report on an investigation on festivals and rites, conducted by checking preexisting documentation as well (tuppi, i 14′, gurda-, i 16′). The character of the text is similar to KUB 42.100+, but the script of the tablet is very different. In lines i 2′-3′, the god Karmaḫili (on whom see Klinger 1996: 265 with fn. 34 and Steitler 2017: 256 with fn. 815) and the twon of Ḫakmiš are mentioned. The preserved portion of the reverse contains lists of personnel and estates of the Storm god of Aleppo (Schwemer 2001: 496 with fn. 4061).

Palaeography and orthography: Non-cursive script. Late QA (i 4′, 13′). Note the unusual spelling pé-eš15-ke-ez-zi (i 8′, 18′).

i 10′: On peššiya- “to remit, waive,” see CHD P 321.
